MEET THE SUPER FOOD FIGHT TEAM

Our mission is to share this exciting adventure story with young children promoting healthy eating, balance and choice.
About Hayley Dodsworth

Hi, I'm Hayley and co-author of Emma Bright and The Super Food Fight.

I love to write and am passionate about healthy eating, fitness and my family.

I'm married with three daughters, aged 8, 10 and 13.  My children have been the inspiration for this book, especially my eldest daughter, Emma.

Back in 2010 I had the original idea for the super food fight book when Emma began to refuse food at mealtimes and fought for my attention. She had two new baby sisters and rivals who's demands were greater. To solve Emma's fussy eating issue I was able to give her the much needed attention she craved by making up short stories about her adventure with the amazing Super Foods. I found that I could convince her to try a wider variety of foods and avoid the tantrums at the meal table by introducing her to the super powers of many different foods and explain how they help in the body. As Emma and her sisters grew older the Super Foods became a part of our family mealtime. I realised this was a brilliant way to encourage healthy eating and to instil lifelong healthy eating habits and decided to improve my nutrition knowledge. I studied a course in 'Understanding Human Nutrition' with the Open University, closely followed by a writing course.

In April 2015 I began working with Donna Harrison, my co-author, on this children's book to share the concept and to support other parents of fussy eaters. I believe that I have had the best job ever creating this exciting adventure story with her all about the fantastic foods in Plenty. We are keen to share the magic with other children and instil lifelong healthy eating habits through drama and storytelling - The Super Food Fight.

I am keen to pass on the practical experience gained in producing and selling our book to children in a creative, fun and inspiring way through our Workshops in schools and for groups.  I have enjoyed a career of over 20 years in marketing and am qualified to CIM Postgraduate Diploma level.

Our own children, Emma Anna and Olivia Dodsworth and Lyla and Peter Harrison have all played a part in our author journey and are now having food fun online through the 'fun-for-kids' section on our website.

Alongside being a mum, I have plenty of experience with children as a Girl Guiding Leader with a Rainbows unit for 2 years and a Brownies unit for 3 years. I was also an Ofted 'outstanding' childminder caring for both boys and girls between 0-5 years for 7 years.

I have been fundraising for Cancer Research UK for over 25 years and I am proud to be able to donate a percentage of the profit from book sales to charity in memory of my Dad, Nigel Ward.
